History

The band formed in 1980 in the small London over-spill town of Haverhill in Suffolk. The Chime was born out of the British Punk scene. Vocalist Mick Hand, guitarist Gary O'Connor and drummer Ricki cook were previously in a band called The Antix while bass player Terry Taylor, played with the hard hitting three piece The Wynd-ups.
The band released three independent singles: Coffin Maker, Cursed and Fire. But there are a number of unreleased demos and live recordings which hopefully will be available in the future.

Hi Gary, Glad to see you're alive and well. Tony here (that idiot, originally from Clacton, who lived with Christine in Haverhill back in the day). I wouldn't hold it against you if you've forgotten though mate, 25 years is a bloody long time ! Glad to see the band hasn't been forgotten, and judging by prices for the old 7's on eBay you're more popular than ever. Great news on the CD front, fantasic idea. I work in record/cd/digital distribution now so if you're looking for any help in that department drop me a line - anthonyw@southern.com - though that e-mail addy is changing soon so dont wait too long if you do need distro/help with setting up a label or whatever. I actually work with a guy that helped put out the Fire 7 thru Backs as well, small world ! It would fantastic to hear from you anyway. Are you still in contact with the boys ? Apart from bumping into Mick at a Banshees gig in Finsbury Park in about 1988 I haven't see or heard from anyone for 25 years and it would be cool just to know they're all still with us ! lol. Take care Gary and if you see anyone from the old days, say hello !! Thanks.

HI guys - bet you don't remember me, but you did end up sprawled out on my living room floor after gig at the Mayfair, Newcastle - we went for a few beers on Tynemouth Front Street & also had indian meal! I have never heard from Stevie Sleep for such a long time, do you know any way of contacting him?
